LIT

The library is composed of two distinct elements – the plinth and the tower. The ground floor of the plinth hosts a café, assembly space and lounge. This area is meant to be bright, open and encourage discussion and collaboration. The top floors of the plinth are shaded by vertical fins – indicating the more private, individual study and reading spaces.

The centerpiece of the project is the 5-storey book tower – a giant display case of all the books within the library. The main vertical circulation is hidden in the center of the tower, allowing one to always feel surrounded by books. The tower facade is made from sandblasted glass so that when it gets dark, the library emits an ethereal glow.
